A panoramic view of the Pacific,KUROSHIO HONJIN: hotspring inn,KUROSHIO KOBO: authentic bonito searing experience

Greeting

Welcome to Kuroshio Honjin's website.
We are a hot springs inn located in Nakatosa-cho, known as the bonito town, in Shikoku's Kochi Prefecture.
At Kuroshio Honjin, you can enjoy beautiful seascapes of the Pacific while soaking in our outdoor seawater bath. Our inn is also based central to many tourist attractions including Nakatosa-cho's "Taisho Marketplace," "Shimanto River Headwaters," and tourist areas such as Kochi Prefecture's western Hata and Oku-Shimanto area.

Since Kuroshio Honjin's opening, we have been loved by many for specializing in seafood cuisine, not leaving out our famed Katsuo-no-Tataki (straw-seared bonito; a Kochi delicacy), and have continued to use fresh local vegetables and seafood in all our dishes.

A perfect weekend getaway for families, friends, and couples, Kuroshio Honjin is also great for all celebratory occasions. Our experienced staff looks forward to welcoming and assisting you during your stay.

Kure, Nakatosa-cho

Nakatosa-cho was named a National Cultural Asset for Important Cultural Landscape thanks to the abundant natural scenery of the rivers, mountains, and sea; along with the wisdom and planning of Nakatosa's pioneers. With a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the Pacific and Kure Bay, Kuroshio Honjin is the "Inn of Bonito Town."

In addition, the inn is surrounded by an array of sightseeing spots and resort areas such as the Kure Port area (the first fishing town ever in Japan to be named a National Cultural Asset for Important Cultural Landscape), the Onomi area (selected a cultural landscape for its importance in distribution and trade which occurred between the Shimanto River area and remote mountain villages), Nakatosa-cho Art Museum (filled with numerous famous works), Kure Taisho-machi Market, Futanajima Island (named one of Kochi's ten most scenic places), Nishioka Brewery (Kochi's oldest sake brewer), and Furusato Beach (known for Nakatosa-cho's biggest event, the Bonito Festival). Also available are various outdoor leisure activities such as a full 18-hole park golf course, a fisherman experience tour, surfing, rock-fishing, platform-fishing, and sweetfish-fishing in the Shimanto River.

Live Camera,-A breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and Kure Bay from Kuroshio Honjin-

Kure Bay's "river smoke" or river mist (video played at 4x speed)

The Kure Bay and Pacific Ocean stretch across the expanse surrounding Kuroshio Honjin. On a sunny day in mid-winter, the bay transforms into an ethereal scene as warm water from the Kure River pours into the Kure Bay, creating a river mist on the water's surface. Caused by a difference in temperatures between warm water and cold air, the river mist, carried by a northwest wind, enters the bay as it dissipates in the distance.

We will be closed from December 26, 2022 to April 6, 2023.
